Carrie Belle Graham Smith, daughter of the late Willie and Lillie Graham, was born on January 3, 1934, in Walterboro, South Carolina. On Wednesday, April 15, 2026, she peacefully departed this life to be with her Heavenly Father, surrounded by her loving family.
Carrie received her education in the public schools of Colleton County. She worked for many years as a dedicated domestic worker and care companion, touching the lives of numerous families with her kindness, reliability, and compassion.
Carrie loved the Lord, loved people, and loved her church. She found joy in worship and in being among the people of God. As a member of Zion AME Church, she would come as child with her father and in her later years she returned as a faithful member, and she served with devotion and carried her faith proudly in her daily life.
Carrie was known for her straightforward nature — she spoke her mind with honesty and confidence, never hesitating to say what needed to be said. Those who knew her appreciated her sincerity, strength, and the wisdom she shared so freely.
Carrie was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Lillie A. Graham; husband, Lewis Smith; two sons; sisters, Ada Aiken and Wilhemenia Johnson and brother, Nathaniel Sidney Aiken.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her nieces and nephews, Nathalee A. Nelson (Rubin), Isaac Graham (Martha), Rebecca Johnson, Oddie F. Bailey (Johnnie), Julie A. Richburg (Lloyd), Gloria A. Robinson, Edgar Sheppard (Karen), Charlie Johnson (Louise), Laura S. York (Jerome) and Johnny Sheppard (Sharon) along with numerous grand nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
