Mother Annie Mae Goodson Harvey, the daughter of the late Louise Goodson Thomas, was born June 20, 1926, in Columbia, South Carolina. As a youth, she was reared by her grandfather, the late Mr. Thaddeus Goodson, whom she took to as her “Dad”. She began receiving her early education at the former Reeder Point Elementary School and then Booker T. Washington High School, both of Columbia, SC. In 1943, as she became a young adult, she relocated to Paterson, New Jersey; where she would go on to enroll and graduate from Central High School. In her adulthood, she entered the workforce and became employed with the Spotless Dry Cleaners of Paterson, New Jersey. Seeking for more, Mother Harvey received her Certification in Nursing. She became employed with Bergen Medical Center of Paramus, New Jersey as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Lastly, she transitioned her employment to Preakness Hospital of Wayne, New Jersey and would remain an active and dependable employee, until her retirement.
Believing in love and companionship, Annie Mae was joined in Holy Matrimony to Mr. William Harvey, on May 31, 2000. These two would relocate to Walterboro, South Carolina and spend
their “Golden Years” enjoying the love of one another and their families. A woman of faith and total trust in God, in her early years, she became a member of the St. Luke Baptist Church of
Paterson, New Jersey. After relocating to Walterboro, she became a member of the Mount Olive Baptist Church and served faithfully until her health would no longer allow her to. Mother Annie Mae Harvey was a true demonstration of love. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, and more, not only to her biological family; but to all her friends, neighbors, and those whom she blessed with her presence. She possessed a “Whit” where once you met her, you could only say, “Yes Ma'am” and walk away with a smile. She loved the joys of life and her family. She loved sharing in her wisdom and just spreading her infectious smile with everyone whom she could. After ninety-seven years of a wonderful life, we believe she has heard the words, “Well done, thy good and faithful servant!”
