Michele Hall Obituary

Michele Cora Caldwell Hall, 66, of Ruffin, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2026, surrounded by her loving son, Jerome Hall, and her brother, Carmichael Caldwell.

Michele was born on January 7, 1960, to Carmichael and Elizabeth Caldwell.  She grew up on the east side of Detroit in a vibrant, close-knit neighborhood rich in culture and rooted in the city’s strong history of auto manufacturing and diverse professions.  This environment exposed Michele and her brother, Camichael, to people from all walks of life and a wide range of career paths from an early age.

Michele graduated from Immaculata High School in Detroit.  Both of her parents were educators, though her mother, Elizabeth, chose to step away from her career after several years to focus on raising Michele and her brother.

One of the most meaningful aspects of Michele’s upbringing was the strong sense of community and family.  It was common for relatives to stop by unannounced, gathering around the dinner table to share meals, stories, and valuable life lessons.  These moments left a lasting impression and played a significant role in shaping Michele’s values and perspective on life.

Michele was truly a people person-someone who loved deeply and never met a stranger.  Growing up in a multi-generational household, she was shaped by the wisdom and influence of those around her, which inspired her to strive for excellence in everything she pursued.

She found joy in church, volunteering, and participating in various neighborhood activities, always drawn to opportunities that brought people together.  Alongside her many friends, Michele also developed a lifelong love for fashion, an interest that would remain a consistent thread throughout her life.

These early passions and experiences would later guide her into careers in hospitality, banking, and retail, where her natural warmth and connection with others truly shined.

Michele was known among her friends and family as someone who truly loved to enjoy life.  She was always up for a neighborhood barbecue, often at the grill, bringing people together and creating lasting memories.  Her greatest gift was her ability to make everyone feel welcome, valued, and loved.

She had a vibrant sense of humor and a contagious laugh that could light up any room.  In her community, Michele was known as a loyal friend-someone you could count on, especially during life’s more difficult moments.

Michele was also incredibly generous, always looking for ways to uplift others and give whatever she could.  While she carried a joyful, easygoing spirit, she was also a natural leader within both her neighborhood and her family, offering strength, guidance, and unwavering support.

Michele is survived by her son, Jerome Hall, and his children, Ja’layah Hall, Jamarri Abney, Zikenya and Dazmaleek Milbary; her brother, Carmichael Caldwell and his wife, Sonya and her nephews, Carmichael, III and Calvin.

She also leaves behind a host of beloved cousins, including members of the Cook Family-Annette, Aaron, Mary Jane, Stevie, Denzel, Nandi and George “Cookie”.  In addition, her extended family in Pasadena, Maryland, led by Walter Caldwell, Sr., had a profound and lasting impact on her life.

Michele will be remembered for her kindness, her genuine love for everyone she met, and her unwavering devotion to her family.  Her legacy of warmth, generosity, and compassion will live on in all who had the privilege of knowing her.
