REFLECTIONS OF LIFE
The life of Maryphine Frasier Millen cannot be summarized in written words. Her contributions to Christian and civic causes left a lasting impact on many lives. The faith, hope and love she exhibited in her service to God and mankind are flames that will glow through eternity.
On Wednesday, January 29, 1947, in Cottageville, South Carolina, the late Julia Bell King Frasier welcomed her lovely daughter, Maryphine into the world, knowing she was bound for destiny. On Saturday, October 4, 2025, Maryphine Frasier Millen departed this life surrounded by her children, leaving behind a legacy of faith, service, and love.
Education
Maryphine graduated with the Class of 1966 from Colleton High School in Walterboro, SC. Her commitment to helping others led her to further her studies at Orangeburg Calhoun Technical College, where she earned her nursing degree. Driven by her spiritual calling, she attended the Universal Life Church of Modesto, California, earning her Credentials of Ministry and her Doctor of Divinity.
Life and Service to God and Community
Sis. Millen broke barriers as one of the first African American employee at BellSouth in Colleton County. Her dedication continued for 17 years as an employee at the Colleton County Building Inspector’s office. After receiving her degree in nursing, she was employed for several years at the Methodist oaks Retirement Home in Orangeburg. Later, she became a Verizon trainer, guiding representatives in inter-media marketing.
Maryphine took a bold step and became the owner of S&S Seafood Market in Orangeburg, SC. She not only provided fresh seafood to the community and surrounding areas but also fed the homeless and hosted her annual S&S Community Day, where everyone was invited for a free meal.
After retiring in 2015, she volunteered as a tutor at the Great Branch Community Center, supporting high school students and senior citizens. She embraced her role as “Official Spoiler of the Grandkids and Great-Grand,” cherishing every moment with her family.
A Cornerstone of Faith
Maryphine’s enduring faith was the foundation of her life. She began her spiritual journey at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Cottageville, SC. After her marriage to Euric Lee Millen, December 1967, she became a devoted member of Wesley Grove United Methodist Church, serving faithfully.
Sis. Millen later became a member of Faith Tabernacle Deliverance Temple in Orangeburg, SC. She served as a member of the Voices of Deliverance and chairperson of the Hospitality department. She was a pillar of service to Faith Tabernacle-always the first to lend a helping hand, prepare a meal, or offer encouragement. Her generosity knew no bounds and her genuine care for others made her a blessing to all who crossed her path. Her eye for detail and flair for design is quite evident throughout Faith Tabernacle where her décor contributions continue to bring joy and inspiration to many, creating a welcoming, uplifting space for worship and fellowship.

Maryphine’s creativity shone brightly through all she did. Decorating, crocheting, cooking and maintaining an immaculate setting brought her joy. Whether it was decorating her home, which was always a place where everyone felt welcomed, valued, and loved, or lending her talents to enhance the beauty of places special to her, her artistic touch was always recognized and appreciated.
