Mary Lee Sanders was born on July 3, 1948, in Marshawville, South Carolina, to the late Buster and Bell Ferrell. She was the second eldest of four children and received her formal education in the Colleton County School System.
Mary dedicated more than 30 years of her life to serving others as a Certified Nursing Assistant, a role she embraced with compassion and pride.
In her spare time, Mary enjoyed fishing, shopping, and dancing. She cherished moments spent with her family—laughing, joking, and sharing her deep love for the gospel. A devoted member of Saint Center Ministries, Mary found joy in worship, and her favorite gospel singer, Lee Williams, often filled her home and heart.
On Sunday evening, May 17, 2026, Mary answered the Master’s call. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bell and Buster Ferrell; her husband, James Givens; and her brother, Elijah “J.C.” Ferrell.
Mary leaves to cherish her memory her devoted daughter, Wilhemenia “Tootsie” Anderson of Ruffin, South Carolina; one grandson, Spencer Anderson; and one great‑grandson, Davon Anderson, both of Albany, New York. She is also survived by her stepchildren, Travis Givens, Ashley Haynes and LaShonda Wylder; her sister, Sarah Carey (Danny); her brother, Harry Ferrell (Julie Mae); and a host of nieces, nephews, and loving family members who will forever hold her in their hearts.
