Mahoney Butler Obituary

            Mahoney Alexander Butler was born August 21, 1949, in Tallahassee, Florida to the late Wilton Butler, Sr. and Pearlie Mae Quarterman-Butler. Mahoney attended Bond Elementary and Lincoln High School in Tallahassee, Florida.

            After school, Mahoney served with honor and pride in the U.S. Army for 23 years, achieving the rank of First Sergeant. He was a Vietnam Veteran and received numerous awards and accommodations during his service.  After military retirement, Mahoney worked for General Dynamics from 1993-2000, serving in various roles and projects in many different countries. He then moved to Augusta, Georgia and became a maintenance manager for Richmond County until his retirement in 2011.

            Mahoney leaves to cherish his loving memory his loving and devoted wife Tammy Butler, daughters Myeca Dunlap (Charlie) of Indiana and Sasha Butler of Maryland, sons Kevin Butler (Adeline) of Georgia, Brandon Butterfield of Fort Campbell, Kentucky and Josh Harris of Georgia.

            He also leaves behind the following grandchildren: Charles Dunlap II (Alexis), Gabriel Dunlap, Kadence Butler, Kevin Butler, Jr., Elijah Butler, Isaiah Butler, Lucinda McArthur, Jacqueline McArthur, and NaYanna Butterfield, along with two great-grandchildren, Charles Dunlap III and Ava Dunlap. His legacy also lives on in the memory of a host of other relatives and friends.

            Mahoney was preceded in death by his parents Wilton and Pearlie Mae, his brothers Wilton and Dwayne Butler, and his sisters Gloria Jean Butler-Russell and Sallye Butler, along with numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
