Lucius Miller Obituary

Mr. Lucius Randolph Miller aka “Dr. Bop” son of the late Sam E. Miller and Pearl Grace Mitchell Miller was born in Colleton County, South Carolina on the 24th day of June 1951.  He departed his earthly life on Monday, January 27, 2025, at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston, South Carolina.

He was educated in the public schools of Colleton County and graduated from Colleton High School in Walterboro, South Carolina.  At an early age he joined St. John AME Church, where he was a member of the Male Choir and attended many programs.  Later in the years he chose Sam Gant as his Class Leader.

In Lucius’ past time, he would enjoy a game of Whist and Spades with his home boys.  He also enjoyed deer hunting and horse racing.  Among those things his favorite then was DJing at parties and special occasions.  He was known for his alter ego “DJ Dr. Bop.”  He knew early on that he had the knowledge and innate curiosity that could make him great.  Along beside him was his nephew, Andy Miller, better known as the Deacon on the drums.

For many years Lucius was employed with Dayco Industries of Walterboro, South Carolina.  He continued his employment with Adams Construction of Charleston, South Carolina and further on with Jennings Concrete of North Charleston, South Carolina from August 1983 – November 2019 and then retired.

Preceding him in death his loving wife of 52 years, Mary Lois “Sarah” Daniels Miller, his parents, Sam Miller and Pearl Grace Mitchell Miller; four brothers, James “Bo” Miller, Clyde Miller, Sam Norris Miller and Ernest Esdorne “Donnie” Miller and one sister, Elizabeth “Sister” Miller Gilliam.

Those left to cherish his memories are his children, Randolph Miller (Lavonne) of Cottageville, SC; Tiffany Miller White (Stevie) of Cottageville, SC; Dawn Miller Green (Barai) of Summerville, SC; Donna Sanders and Tanesia Sanders both of Walterboro, SC and Jacquelyn Ford (Earnest) of Round-O, SC; siblings, Alphonso Miller (Mary) of Walterboro, SC, Rosetta Liddell of Green Pond, SC; Gloria Bates of Charleston, SC and Gloria Lynah of Walterboro, SC; twelve grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Elvis Daniels (Rose) and Marion Daniels (Deborah); sisters-in-law, Gwendolyn Van Dyke (Henry) and Mable Brown all of Cottageville, South Carolina; special friends, Lawrence Burden, Chris Singleton, Terry Gant and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
