Leila Mae Ancrum Varner, the daughter of the late Oscar Ancrum and Evelena Sheppard, was born on May 3, 1940, in Summerville, South Carolina.
Leila lived a wonderful life. Being born in Dorchester County, she was educated in the local public schools. After receiving her formal education, on December 20, 1955, she worked for several years as a productive housekeeper.
