Joyce Jeanette Brown, known to many as “Mickey” the daughter of the late Mose Singleton and Ernestine Williams Singleton, was born on March 12, 1954. She entered peacefully into eternal rest on April 19, 2025, at her residence.
She attended Colleton County Public Schools and was a 1974 graduate of Walterboro High School.
Joyce accepted Christ at an early age and was a devoted member of St. Paul CME Church, where she stared the “Pack the Pew Program.”
Joyce was a hard-working woman, and began her career at Coastal Center in Summerville, South Carolina and then later was employed at Colleton County Board of Disability for many years until her health failed. She then became a Devoted Foster Parent.
She truly lived her life to the fullest. She enjoyed cooking, spending time with family and friends, loved listening to Anita Baker and Barry White and loved baseball where she met the love of her life, Lewis (Sweet Lou).
She was preceded in death by her son, John (Jas) Scoop and her siblings, Moselle, Flossie, Emerson, Moses, Jr., William and Bernard.
She leaves behind a DEVOTED FAITHFUL husband of thirty-five years, Lewis Brown of the home; her loving son Arsenio Lewis Brown (Rolonda); three grandchildren, D’Anthony, Mariah and Malayiah; one sister, Sandra (Tish) Morris; sisters-in-law, Sarah Singleton, Grace Singleton, Carolyn (Joe) Riley, Sandra Brown, Emma Springer, and Barbara Brown; brothers-in-law, Ronnie Brown and Alfonso Brown; her beautiful God Daughter, Selita (Dante) Brown; two best friends, Cynthia Hill and Shirley McFadden.
She will be missed by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and her church family.
