" Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will Strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous hand." Isaiah 41:10
Mr. Jimmy McArthur Mitchell was born on February 8, 1958, to the late William James Mitchell and the late Geraldine Dubois Mitchell. Jimmy was educated in the Colleton County School District and was a graduate of Ruffin High School.
Jimmy was never a stranger to hard work. Over the course of years, he was employed by Williams Construction, Salley's Construction, Jennings Construction, Hayne's Construction and many others. He was a very skillful concrete mason. Jimmy was also very creative. He would often find unadorned objects and craft them into something eccentric. Jimmy had a tenacity for obtaining his CDL prior to his illness. He often tried to convince his sister that he was soon going to be shifting those gears. He was so determined to drive truck for his nephew Scott. On any given day, one could find Jimmy in the backyard, sitting in his brother's Timmy commercial vehicle, daydreaming behind the wheel. His sister Frankie would come find and scold him saying "Now Jimmy, you better get out of that hot truck right now!
Jimmy was very humble. He was a very compassionate individual who truly believed in treating everyone with dignity and respect. He was known as a man of integrity. Jimmy also appreciated and relished the simplest things in life. To even hear the caroling of the birds would bring such immense joy to him. He was never one to complain. Jimmy absolutely loved and adored his family. He would always affectionally refer to his dear sister and all his nieces with the same nickname "Sweets."
In the early morning hours of August 25, 2024, Jimmy bid this earthly realm farewell at the Pruitt Nursing Facility of Walterboro South Carolina.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his father, Mr. William James Mitchell; mother, Mrs. Geraldine Dubois Mitchell; two sisters, Betty Ann Mitchell and Ola Mae Lightsey; two brothers, Robert Vernon Mitchell and John Daniel Mitchell and two nephews, Tommy Kelvin Mitchell and Latroy Mccleary Mitchell.
