Jervie Wright, Sr. was born on September 1,1950 in Whitehall, South Carolina to the late Oscar Wright, Sr. and Geneva Wright. He received his education in the Colleton County Public Schools.
Jervie was joined in holy matrimony to Lucille Magwood-Wright on November 30, 1974. From this union two children were born: Jervie Wright, Jr. and Nicole Wright.
Jervie entered into eternal rest on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at MUSC in Charleston, SC.
Jervie was a member of Ebenezer C.M.E. Church. He faithfully served on the Usher and Steward Board where he always greeted people with warmth, kindness and a heart for serving God and the church.
Jervie was a hard-working, devoted husband and father who spent his career caring for others. Jervie previously worked for the City of Wilmington, then later moved to SC. He was employed by SCDOT in Walterboro where he later retired. His compassion, strong work ethic and genuine kindness touched everyone he encountered.
Jervie was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar Wright, Sr. and Geneva Wright; his son, Jervie Wright, Jr.; sisters, Mamie Green, Alberta Gilmer and Annette Gethers, and brothers, Oscar Wright, Jr. Nathaniel Wright, Sr. and Bennie Wright, Sr.
He leaves to cherish his fond memories, his devoted wife, Lucille Wright; children, Anthony Magwood, Yolonda (Trevor) Byrd and Nicole Wright, and grandchildren, Jeremiah and Amani Magwood.
He is also survived by his brother, Anthony Wright, Sr.; brothers-in-law, Richard Lee Gethers, Eddie Magwood, Haskell (Dianne) Magwood and Ronald Magwood; sister-in-law, Beverly Wright and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Jervie will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
