Jerome “JJ” Green son of the late Henry Lee and Elizabeth Green was born January 12, 1958, in Jacksonboro, South Carolina. Jerome departed this earth on August 6, 2024, at Roper Hospital, located in Downtown, Charleston, SC. He surrendered to our Heavenly Father, he obeyed the call, “It’s time come home, job well done.”
Jerome was educated in the Colleton County school system. He later moved to Atlanta, GA where he worked in construction. He was also employed as a Supervisor with Henry Lee Distributors in Charleston, SC. After returning home to Jacksonboro for good, Jerome married the love of his life, Vivian Green. They were joined in holy matrimony on October 23, 1987. This union included 6 children. During his marriage and throughout his life he was a loving father, brother, grandfather, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend to many.
Jerome was the primary caretaker to his loving wife for over 7 years until her passing. After her passing he went to live with his daughter Ali due to health issues, but he did not allow this to define who he was or steal his passion for life. He continued to show his devotion to God and his family. He was a man of few words, but when he spoke his words caught the ears of many.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Vivian Green of 37 years, three siblings: Benjamin Smalls, Therion Green, Viola Bowman and his parents Henry Lee and Elizabeth Green.
Jerome J.J. leaves to cherish his memories: his children Spencer, Ali, Jamell, Tyrus, Tarnesha, and Tenille. His siblings: Henry “Gil”, Bernard (Vanessa), and Nicole. Grandchildren: Damien, Brianna, Joey, Tyrue, January, Travis, Tyrus Jr, Alexandria, Jamari, Zhaire, Jamell Jr., Jathan and Jameia. Great grandchildren: Kayden, Niahvita, Lyric, Ivy, Inah, Serenity, Zoey, Ja’Meir and Ti’Lann. Also 2 special cousins Gwen and Raymond. A host of relatives including in-laws, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that loved him dearly.
