With hearts full of love and sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Janett Myrth Clark, who peacefully transitioned on the evening of Saturday, June 7, 2025.
Janett was born on January 5, 1955, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late James Arthur Sr. and Rosa Lee Smith. As the second of nine children, she shared a lifelong bond with her siblings: the late Linda Harper, the late Arthur James, James Arthur Jr. (Tracy), Addie Delahoussaye (Steve), the late Myrna Johnson (Duane Johnson Sr.) (Janet), Horace (Karen), LaWanda, and Richard Smith (Janiene).
She was a loving mother to Arnetta Eline Clark, Anita Ros’e Smith (Lannie). But her greatest joys were her grandchildren—Demetrius, Bricsen, Ashon-Michael, and Kimbo Jr.—who were her heartbeats and her pride, filling her life with happiness in every season.
Janett shared a lifelong bond with her soulmate, Herschel Howard III, who stood faithfully by her side through every high and low, loving her with a quiet strength that never wavered.
Janett accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior early in her life, longing for the peace that only He can provide. Life wasn’t always easy for her. She faced many challenges, including living with bipolar disorder and navigating hardships, yet even in her struggles, she found ways to show love. Her journey was imperfect, but her spirit was unforgettable. In her last year, she dedicated herself to caring for her ailing mother, with the support of her sisters and brothers. She made space in her heart for those around her—when she let you in, you saw the diamond beneath the rough: shining bright, beautiful, and one of a kind.
Her love was raw and sometimes unfiltered, but always genuine. That authenticity drew people to her—loving her not just for what she gave, but for who she was.
Though her earthly journey has ended, we believe she is now resting in peace—whole, free, and wrapped in perfect serenity. Until we meet again.
Janett leaves behind a lasting legacy of family, resilience, and heartfelt love—imperfect yet profoundly meaningful and unforgettable. She is also survived by many cherished aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends—each of whom will forever hold her memory close in their hearts.
God is within her, she will not fall.” – Psalm 46:5
