Ishmel Manigo, affectionately known as “Windy,” peacefully transitioned from mortality to immortality on Sunday, May 18, 2025, in North Charleston, South Carolina. He was born on March 23, 1933, in White Hall, South Carolina, to the late Abraham and Tiller Manigo.
Ishmel received his early education in the public schools of Colleton County. After graduating, he proudly served his country in the United States Army for three years.
Following his military service, Ishmel relocated to New York City, where he worked as a cab driver and an employee of the United States Postal Service. Known for his mechanical skills and love of the road, Ishmel could often be found working on cars or traveling during his leisure time.
In 1965, Ishmel was united in holy matrimony to Beatrice Williams Manigo. Their union was blessed with one son.
He was preceded in death by his parents, nine siblings, and his beloved son, Ricky Manigo.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Beatrice Manigo of New York, NY; his son, Keltan (Joy) Hannah of Alabama; his brother, Rosevelt (Viola) Manigo of Detroit, MI; his baby sister, Jeannette Hall of Walterboro, SC; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Ishmel “Windy” Manigo will be remembered for his gentle spirit, unwavering work ethic, and deep love for family. He will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
