Irene Marshall Obituary

Obituary

Irene Saxby Marshall was born on February 28, 1956, in Ritter, South Carolina, to the late Ernest and Millie Saxby. She peacefully entered eternal rest on June 20, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Irene received her education in the Colleton County School System. At an early age, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and became a devoted member of St. Paul CME Church under the leadership of Rev. A.Z. Brown. After relocating to Atlanta, Georgia, she continued her faith journey as a faithful member of House of Hope Atlanta.

A dedicated and hardworking professional, Irene retired from Blue Cross Blue Shield after more than 20 years of service. She also spent over 35 years assisting clients through H&R Block, where she was known for her kindness, patience, and commitment to helping others during tax season.

Irene lived life with joy and purpose. She enjoyed walking, participating in 5K races, reading, listening to gospel music, and spending time with her beloved dog, Leo. Above all, she treasured her family. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the center of her world, and she loved them deeply.

She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Andre' Brown; her parents, Ernest and Millie Saxby; and her siblings, Ernest Leroy Saxby, Ruby Brown, Randy Saxby, and Kenneth Saxby.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory her husband, Michael Marshall; daughter, Angelia (Ivan) Anderson of Fayetteville, North Carolina; son, Kevin (Trastine) Saxby of Carrollton, Georgia; grandchildren, Devin, Shakia, Ivan II, Deaun, Xavier, Joshua, and Jayla; and great-granddaughter, Tai'Lynn and Alyia.

She is also survived by her siblings, Carol Dixon, Barbara Singleton, Gloria (Ed) Clark, Joseph (Helena) Saxby, Tyrisha (Rodney) Kelly, Priscilla (Tim) Hamilton, and Aaron (Stella) Saxby; sisters-in-law, Redelma Saxby and Jessie Saxby; her lifelong childhood friend, Alvenia Singleton; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Though Irene's physical presence will be deeply missed, her legacy of faith, love, compassion, and devotion to family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
