Hesikiah Vernon Elliott was born September 19, 1952, in the Jonesville Community of Yemassee, SC. He was the beloved son of the late Jesse Elliott and Mary Chisolm Elliott.
Hesikiah received his education in the Colleton County school system and was a proud graduate of Walterboro High School, Class of 1971.
Known for his sharp style, he was a snazzy dresser who especially loved his cowboy hats and boots. His siblings fondly nicknamed him “Cowboy Tex,” a name that reflected both his personality and his signature look. He was also affectionately known as "Geno" to his friends.
Hesikiah was employed for many years as a longshoreman with the International Longshoremen’s Association (I.L.A.), Local 1422. Throughout his working life, he also held positions with the Town of Yemassee, Alpha Genesis Primate Research Center in Yemassee, and the Basket Factory in Yemassee.
A devoted sports enthusiast, Hesikiah faithfully supported his favorite teams: the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Los Angeles Lakers, and the New York Yankees. In his later years, he found joy and peace spending time outdoors, working on various projects around his home, tending to his yard, and caring for his beloved dog.
Hesikiah was preceded in death by his sisters, Jeraldine Elliott-Brown, Jannette Elliott-Williams and Lillie Elliott- Green, his brother, Sherwood Elliott, and his son, Vincent Lamar Elliott.
His legacy lives on through his loving children: Sheldon "Blake" Elliott (Brittany) of Pooler, GA; Brian Elliott of Augusta, GA; Teresia N.
