Frank Perry Sr. was born on May 13, 1939, to the late Maggie Lee Spell-Perry and the late Gussie Perry Sr. He departed this life Monday, February 12, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
He received his education in Colleton County Schools during the era of segregation in the 1940s-50s. He ran away to Florida then found his way to Brooklyn, New York where he worked as a truck driver for more than two decades from which he retired. There he met his loving and devoted wife, Mollie Elizabeth Perry, who precedes him in death. He fathered eight children: Ervin Thomas, Deborah Rhone (Caprest), Shari Hampton (Carl) [both deceased], Delores Perry (Shenella), Frank Perry Jr., Lucy Perry-Rose (Dasiel), Gloria Perry-Brown, and Thelma Perry. He later moved his family to the McDanieltown Community (Mac Hill) where he spent his days farming, fishing, raising his children, helping others and working for Colleton County Public Works for over two decades from which he also retired. He was loved by all and viewed as an influential male role model and a father figure to many in New York, Florida, and South Carolina.
Frank was one of 7 children: Ruthie Mae Atkins, Roosevelt “Pocket” Spell, Gussie Jr “Red” Perry [deceased], Irma Campbell [deceased], Henderson “Shorty” Perry [deceased], Elizabeth “Honey” Gregory, [deceased], and Elijah Perry [deceased].
He leaves to cherish his precious memories: his children (aforementioned), 22 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren [1 deceased], and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
