Evon Michelle Parsons Holmes

Mrs. Evon Michelle Parson Holmes “Big Momma” was born to the late Sara Foxworth and Fred S. Parson, Sr., and raised by the late Abraham and Louise Singleton.

She was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, then they packed up the wagon and headed to Adams Run, South Carolina.  She attended PS30 in New Jersey and RD Schroder in Youngs Island, South Carolina.  Over the years she had numerous jobs, but her greatest was taking care of her family.

Evon was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; siblings, Joseph Watson and Andrea Williams; great grandchild, Shakari Reynolds and daughter-in-law, Deloris Holmes.

She was the mother of three handsome sons, Shakar Holmes, Martez Holmes and Ashley N. Singleton (Pecola) and beloved daughter-in-law, Desire Holmes.

Evon loved and treasured her grandchildren, Shakar Holmes, Jr., Shakera Holmes, Raequan Holmes, Da’Quawn Singleton, Malek Singleton, Jaheim Singleton and Zhyasia Singleton and great grandchildren, Syliah Holmes and Zykariah Reynolds.

She leaves to mourn nine siblings, Ada (Robert) Hudson, Patricia Parson, Adrianne Smith Jackson, Bonita Singleton, Cheryl Parson, Cassandra Parson, Fred S. Parson, Jr., Muntigim (Mattie) Thabit aka Brian and Shadid Mahfuwz aka Bruce. Along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Evon was a loving and caring person to everyone, but she carved her own path.  We will forever cherish her memories and hold special moments in our hearts.
