Ernestine Cleo Hills Heyward affectionately known to many as “Cleo” the daughter of late John Wesley Davis and Loubertha Jerido was born on September 2, 1932, in Tampa, Florida. Ernestine was the youngest of 2 siblings. She departed this life on April 27,2024 at Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro, South Carolina.
Cleo at an early age became a member of St. John Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Youmans and currently under the leadership of Pastor Prince Polite. She and Sister Jessie Lee Rhodes started the Gospel Choir, and she later became a member of the Senior Choir and a member of the Eastern Star. She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Reverend Johnny Heyward on March 22, 1986.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Johnny Heyward and brother, Freeman Davis.
Left to cherish her memories are her children, Wesley (Shirley) Hills, Richardean Hills, Lorenzo Hills and Curtis (Cynthia) Hills, Sr.; a special daughter, Celeste (Shawn) Simmons; a special nephew, Arnold (Robin) Stanfield; 14 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren and host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
