Mrs. Ella Mae Adams was born on August 20, 1945, in Walterboro, South Carolina to the late Albert and Lillian Jennings. She entered eternal rest on May 1, 2025, in Madison, Alabama.
Ella comes from humble beginnings in the Dooley Hill Community. Ella completed school in Colleton County and later pursued her career in healthcare and worked as a Certified Patient Care Technician. She worked at Oakwood Healthcare of Walterboro and Colleton County Medical Center, until she retired in 2010.
Throughout Ella’s life, she assisted in the upbringings of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She became known as “Momma Ella” throughout the military community continuing with her passion to help with the upbringing of fellow Soldier children on short and long deployments. She was a mother to all and was loved by everyone. She welcomed everyone into her home, family, friends, and coworkers with open arms, always willing to go above and beyond for the people she loved.
Ella was a world traveler, she traveled to places like South Korea, Michigan Washington, Texas and countless other places. She will be remembered for her sense of humor and her loving character, always being the life of the party. Ella loved the Lord Jesus and was active member of All Nations Ministry in Madison, Alabama.
She is preceded in death by her son, Kevin Jennings; grandson, Michael Adams; sister Bessie May Kittrell; brother-in-law, Jerry Adams; sisters-in-law, Wanda Mudrow and Muzell Adams; nephews, Kenneth Mitchell, Charles Kittrell, and Chad Mitchell; great-nephew Christopher Powell; grandniece, Nicole Harlan, and great-grand niece, Shaniya Burden.
Ella is survived by her husband, Harry Julius Adams of Walterboro, SC; daughter, Tonnette (Lucius) Green of Bishopville, South Carolina, son, Harry (Kimberly) Adams of Madison, Alabama; sister, Lilly Mae (Charles) Mitchell of Walterboro, South Carolina; In- Laws, Dorothy (Roosevelt) Williams of Bishopville, SC, Patricia (Donnie) Dukes of Rock Hill, SC, Mary (William) Hickman of Bishopville, SC and Jesse (Meka) Adams of Columbia, SC along with a loving generation of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and host of nieces and nephews.
