Elaine Aiken Breland was born on August 13, 1960, to James Isiah Aiken, Sr. and Queen Esther Williams Aiken in Walterboro, South Carolina. She departed her earthly home on Thursday, April 2, 2026, in Beaufort, South Carolina.
Elaine was a member of the Walterboro High School Class of 1978. She attended Beaufort Technical College in Beaufort, South Carolina.
She was employed as a Certified Nursing Assistant with Oakwood Nursing Home. She later worked with Jeb’s Seafood, the Smoak Family and was a caregiver to many others.
Elaine hobbies were fishing and cooking for her large family and friends. She also loved crafting and planting flowers.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, James I. Aiken, Jr., Edward Aiken, Sr., Howard Aiken and Michael Aiken, Sr.; two sisters, Geraldine Aiken Walker and Deloris Aiken and a bonus son, Harvell “JB” Breland.
Elaine leaves to cherish her memories, one son, William “Sugar Bear” Aiken; two bonus daughters, Rhonda (Bruce) L’Hommedieu and Dena White; four grandsons, Chase Aiken, LaTrell Aiken, Ni’Kell Aiken and Chamel (Trinity) Aiken; eight great-grandchildren, Latrell Aiken, Jr., Ryah Aiken, Aiden Aiken, Araylah Aiken, Emberleigh Aiken, Kayden Aiken, Arielle Aiken and Kingston Aiken; a special niece whom she helped raise and loved as her own, Kenya (Mark) McMillon and her children, Monet McMillon, Ja’Mez Aiken, Mar’Kyah McMillon, Legaci McMillon, Mark McMillon, III and Naimey McMillon; two sisters, Gloria Aiken Jenkins of Walterboro, South Carolina and Pamela Aiken of Miami, Florida; two brothers, David Womble of New York, New York and Ulyscee Aiken of Walterboro, South Carolina; sisters-in-law, Marie Aiken, Marcella Aiken Brock and Amanda Aiken Brown; one aunt, Bonnie Aiken of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, numerous nieces and nephews and a host of cousins and devoted friends.
