Deaconess Minnie P. Gethers was born on July 10, 1932, in Walterboro, South Carolina to her parents the late Walter Moore and Gertrude Paul.
She went to school in Walterboro, South Carolina. She later moved to New York where she met her beloved husband, Fred Gethers, Jr. To the union three daughters were born.
While living in New York, Minnie was a faithful member of the Tried Stone Baptist Church. After returning to South Carolina, she joined the Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church where she was a Deaconess for many years. Minnie was an active member on the gospel choir. She was a faithful member of the Missionary Society and regularly attended Sunday School and Bible study.
Minnie is preceded in death by her parents, Walter Moore and Gertrude Paul; her husband, Fred Gethers, Jr.; sister, Mary Rivers; brothers, Willie James “Buck” Moore and Louis Moore.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her daughters, Carolyn Gethers, Clarice Gethers-Mubarak (Abdur Raheem) and Jacqueline Diane Gethers; grandsons, Quan Gethers and Tyrese Gethers; sisters, Margaret Moore and Pauline Adams; sisters-in-law, Ann Bodison and Ella Moore; brothers-in-law, Gus Bodison, Sr. and Larry Gethers along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
