Deacon Harry Truman Brown, son of the late Walter & Lottie Brown; was born January 21, 1951. As a youth he received his formal education in the public school system and graduated from Ruffin High School class of 1969. Upon graduation, Harry was drafted into the United States Army, where he served a one-year term in Vietnam. Receiving numerous awards and merits, Harry was honorable discharged and returned to South Carolina. Harry sought to continue in his education and enrolled into Orangeburg Technical College of Orangeburg, South Carolina. Successfully, Harry would go on to graduate from OC Tech with two Associate Degrees. Harry was gainfully employed with the former Westinghouse Manufacturers for over forty-one years as a press operator, until the plant closed.
At an early age, Harry accepted the Lord as his Savior, and became a member of the McCune Branch Baptist Church. Throughout his lifetime, he has served in numerous capacities within the church such as: treasurer, trustee, building fund treasurer, and treasurer for the Bethlehem Baptist Sunday School & BTU Convention. He was ordained as a deacon and even served as the chairman of the deacon board. Deacon Brown loved God, his church, and the people of God and served faithfully until his passing.
Finding love, Deacon Harry met the love of his life, Mae Coaxum, and on January 10, 1973, the two became one, as they were joined in Holy Matrimony. This union would be blessed with two wonderful children and almost fifty years of love and devotion. To know him was to love him. He was a man of valor and honor. His life was a true demonstration of who he was, a devoted husband, loving father, and grandfather, and so much more to each and every one whom he encountered.
During the midday hours of Saturday, December 31, 2022; Deacon Harry T. Brown; bade a final farewell to this earthen vessel as he departed from the shores of time. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by one son, Tyson, and two brothers, Furman and Virgil.
