Deacon Harry Truman Brown was born September 4, 1945, on the Cherokee Plantation of Yemassee, SC: to Jessie Sr. and Lydia Brown. Raised in a Christian home he accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church. A man with a servant’s heart who never met a stranger he served in various capacities to include Chair Deacon at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, Booster Club President, Baseball Coach and Commissioner and as a brother of the 221 Sunlight Masonic Temple. After receiving his formal education from Colleton County School System, he moved to New York where he was a Truck Driver for many years before returning to drive trucks for Coastal until his retirement. He met and married Jeanette Brown on June 11, 1966. This union was blessed with three beautiful sons Alphonso Brown, Rashown Brown, and the late Devin T. Brown.
He exhibited the heart of a shepherd by the love shown to his family, guidance through words of encouragement or correction to young people in the community and support to friends in times of need. His support was provided with love and strength that will be cherished and remembered. He departed this life on March 21, 2022. He was preceded in death by his mother and father Jessie Sr. and Lydia Brown. He leaves to cherish his memory wife Jeanette Brown of Walterboro, two sons Alphonso (Ramona) Brown and Rashown (Regina) Brown, daughter Jocelyn Green all of Columbia, SC. His siblings Alberta Francis (Sumon), Helen Brown Delaware, Jessie Jr. (Mary) Walterboro, SC, Juanita Brown Pennsylvania, Larry (Cheryl) Brown Charleston, SC. Grandchildren Jerard Brown Denver, CO, Jayla Brown Columbia, SC and Candace Green Columbus, GA. along with a host of brother and sisters in law, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
