David Lee Hodges

David Lee Hodges was born on October 19, 1957, in Walterboro, South to Dorothy Hodges and the late Harvey Hodges.  After a brief illness, David Lee Hodges, 67, passed away on February 3, 2025, at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC.

He was a 1975 graduate of Walterboro High School. He attended Sandhill Baptist Church and Deacon Benjamin Jakes was his Deacon.

David served in the United States Army.  He was married to Linette Hodges and to this union three children were born.

David never met a stranger.  He was the historian in the family, not only did he remember everyone, but he could also tell you how you were all related.  He remembered birthdays, special occasions or other family events.  He would reach out by Facebook, calls or texts to express his sincere wishes for whatever the occasion might be.  He enjoyed fishing and loved animals-chicken, dogs, etc.  He always had some kind of animal (even a baby alligator) around the house.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, his father, Harvey Hodges and daughter Shamyra Hodges.

David is survived by his children of the home, Yaphette Hodges, Keemona Hodges and Lashaun Hodges; grandchildren, Diamond Hodges, Ca’Dayn Jamison, Calvin Shider, Keyarah Hodges, Kalaun Hodges and Kelis Hodges (due to arrive on February 22, 2025); his mother, Dorothy H. White; brothers, Melvin E. Hodges, Kennerdy B. (Anna/Lala) Hodges; sisters, Barbara Grant, Annie C. (Jessie) Miller and Joyce M. (James) Myers and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
