Darlynn M. Garrett was born December 29, 1954, to the late James B. Middleton and Dorothy K. Middleton. Darlynn graduated from Walterboro High School in 1973. She later furthered her education at South Carolina State University where she obtained her Library Science Degree in 1978. She continued her education at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, South Carolina receiving her master’s degree in library and information science in 1994.
Darlynn accepted Christ as her savior at St. Peters A.M.E. Church in Walterboro, South Carolina. She was a faithful member who served as an usher and in many various capacities.
Darlynn began her career in education with the Head Start Program, in Colleton County of South Carolina. She was later employed with Colleton County School District as a middle school Media Specialist. She continued as a Media Specialist for 31 years until she retired in 2015.
On September 15, 1984, Darlynn was joined in holy matrimony to Greg Garrett. From this union one daughter was born. Darlynn was a proud member of the Walterboro Alumni Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
Darrlyn leaves to cherish her husband of 39 years; Hal Gregory “Greg” Garrett, her daughter; Dana A. Garrett and one granddaughter; Jaylee E. Stephens all of Walterboro, South Carolina, one brother; James Anthony (Darlene) Middleton of Columbia, South Carolina, two sisters; Helen Patricia Middleton and Sennie Agatha Crosby, all of Walterboro, South Carolina, eight brothers-in-law; Herman Radcliff, Jr., Horace Jackie Garrett, both of Walterboro, South Carolina, Randy (Virginia) Garrett, of Rincon, GA, Alonzo (Angela) Garrett, of Ridgeville, South Carolina, Lee Garrett, Jr., of Ritter, South Carolina, Walter (Rachel) Garrett, of Walterboro, South Carolina, Russell Garrett, of Whitehall, South Carolina, Lamont Garrett of Goose Creek, South Carolina, and James Garrett of Greenville, South Carolina, one sister-in-law; Clarice (Julian) Wilson of Jacksonville, North Carolina, two aunts; Novice Manigault of Neyles, South Carolina and Gail Pringle of Walterboro, South Carolina and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
