Darien Lamont Perry, the son of Wendell Perry and Betty Ann Sanders Perry, was born on May 2, 1972. On the evening of Sunday, May 4, 2025, Darien peacefully slipped away and entered eternal rest surrounded by his family.
Early in life, Darien joined Nazarene Baptist Church and remained an active member even through his sickness.
Darien attended public school in Colleton County and graduated from Walterboro High School with his diploma in 1990. He worked for the Coastal Center in Ladson helping individuals with special needs. He also worked with Orkin Exterminators prior to being diagnosed with MS and becoming ill.
Darien, affectionately known as D.P, was a kind, easy-going person that loved his family immensely, his red Hyundai, and his music. He was generous, selfless, compassionate, always willing to help others and would give anything that he had to them. Darien made a mark on the lives of all who knew him. His gentle nature and ability to find the good in everyone made him a cherished friend, family member, and member of the community.
Darien’s grandparents, James and Eliza Sanders and Ollease “Pink” Brothers preceded him in death and will be waiting for his arrival in heaven with open arms.
Darien leaves to cherish his fond and loving memories: his parents, Wendell and Betty Perry; one sister, Segina Renee Canty; one brother-in- love, Aciey Canty ; one nephew, Aciey (Monte) Canty Jr; one niece, Armani LaShae Canty; five aunts, Audrey Perry, Inez Middleton, Majorie Perry, Ida Sanders, Ornita “Snow” Brown; one uncle, James Sanders; two special caregivers, Ruth Lynah and Jeanette Legree; a host of cousins and loved ones to forever cherish his memories. May he rest peacefully, forever cradled in the love and light of the Lord.
