Cynthia Denise Givens Garrett was born October 4, 1956, in the Bronx, New York community to the late Harris Brisbane and late Bernice Givens and was raised by late Deacon Freddie and Rebecca Givens in Hickory Hill Community. Cynthia was the third child of six children. Her siblings are Rodney, Lloyd, Ralph, Dianne, James. Her sibling Ralph has proceeded her in death.
In 1978, Cynthia Givens and Horace Garrett joined in holy matrimony and during this union were born four astonishingly blessed children: Eric, Jermaine, Terrance, and Tiara. Cynthia gave her life to Christ at an early age, and she was baptized, and became a faithful member of Ebeneezer Baptist Church of Greenpond. In her adult years, Cynthia became a faithful member of Zion
AME Church, Hendersonville, South Carolina where she served as a stewardess. Cynthia graduated from Walterboro High School of Colleton County Public School System in 1975. She was a successful business owner of Beam’s Group Home Daycare for 23 years until retirement in June 2023. In her leisure she enjoyed shopping ,caring for family members, and many other adventures that brought her joy.
Cynthia leaves to cherish her memories, her husband of 47 years, Horace “Jackie” Garrett, Her children: Eric Garrett, Jermaine Garrett, Terrance Garrett, and Tiara Garrett all of Walterboro, South Carolina; Grandson Micah Lee Claxton of Walterboro, South Carolina. Aunt Albertha Givens of Baltimore, Maryland, Elizabeth “Betty” Givens of Greenpond, South Carolina , Uncle Clarence Givens of Walterboro, South Carolina; Aunt Elizabeth Givens of Yemassee, South Carolina, Aunt Mander Lee Givens of Yemassee, South Carolina. Aunt Anna Huggins of White Hall, South Carolina. Brother: Rodney (Ann) Givens of Yemassee, South Carolina, Llyod (Teresa) Givens of Knoxville, Tennessee. Sister: Dianne Givens, of Walterboro, South Carolina; Brother : James ( Trelawny) Bullock of Georgetown, Texas. Special Cousin: Pastor Everett (Nadina) Givens of Baltimore, Maryland, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving relatives and friends.
