Mr. Clarence Murray was born on January 27, 1941, on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, to Annie Murray. He was raised in the loving home of his grandmother Viola Murray.
Clarence attended Hilton Head Elementary and Michael C. Riley High School in Bluffton, South Carolina. He loved working with his hands and worked in Carpentry most of his life, both as a roofer and builder.
As a child, Clarence grew up attending Queen Chapel A.M.E. Church. Later, he joined his wife, Annie Mae Brown Murray, at Bethel A.M.E. Church in Jacksonboro, South Carolina. After preceding him in death, he returned to his home church, Queen Chapel A.M.E. Church. They shared 15 years of love and companionship until her passing in 2014. His mother, Mrs. Annie Murray Polite; his grandmother, Mrs. Viola Burke Murray; and one sister, Mrs. Lucy B. Howell, also preceded him in death
Clarence loved to reminisce the good times and share a laugh with family, friends, and acquaintances. Clarence will be remembered as a kind and caring person.
Clarence leaves to cherish his memories, six children, Dr. Sharon Sanders-Funnye, Mrs. Geneva (Earl) Griffin, Mr. Ervin (Essie) Murray, Mr. Edward (Glenda) Murray, Mrs. Lisa (Richard) Doe, and Evangelist Yvette (Dwayne) Jordan, 13 grandchildren, and 27 great-grandchildren. Clarence’s memories will also be cherished by five sisters, Mrs. Ernestine (Charles) Johnson, Mrs. Susie (Alphonso) Hall, Mrs. Naomi (George) Brown, Mrs. Georgetta Singleton, and Mrs. Cynthia (Cordele) Golden; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
