Carolyn Magwood Smalls

Carolyn Magwood-Smalls was born on January 25, 1949 in Colleton County, SC to Haskell Magwood, Sr. and Anna Magwood. Carolyn departed this earthly life on December 28, 2024 at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro, SC.

Carolyn was a 1968 graduate of Walterboro High School, Walterboro, SC.

Carolyn was united in holy matrimony to the late Bennie Smalls. Carolyn was the proud mother of four beautiful children: Bernard, Bernice, David and Perry.

Carolyn was loved by all those she encountered. She loved the Lord. 

Carolyn was employed by different Hotel chains for over 30 years (Holiday Inn and Hampton Inn). She later worked for Priority Home Health Care services in Walterboro until her health failed her.

Carolyn joined Zion AME Church in Hendersonville, SCat an early age under the leadership of Pastor Julius Heyward. She served as the Sanctuary Choir President and a Lay Organization Stewardess. She was also apart of the Women's Missionary Society. in the Beaufort District of the A.M.E. Church Carolyn served as a District Choir Member, and was also apart of the Women’s Missionary Society and Lay Organization. 

Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, BennieSmalls, her son, Bernard Magwood and her siblings:Larry Magwood, Elmore Magwood, Hurley Magwood, Theodore Magwood, Horace Magwood, Horace Ford, Ernestine Evans, Mary Heyward, Louise Singleton, Ida Martin and Nancy Grant.  

Carolyn leaves to cherish her memories: Her daughter: Bernice (Lorenzo) Turkvant, Two sons: David Smalls and Perry (Monique) Smalls. Daughter in law: Sandra Magwood. Her siblings: Eddie Magwood, Haskell (Dianne) Magwood, Jr. Lucille (Jervie) Wright and Ronald Magwood. 

12 grand children: Chavaughn (Frankie) Geathers, Hillie Magwood, Floyd Ferguson, Jr., Shawanna Ferguson, DeQuez Washington, Bernard Magwood, Jr. Shadiyah Williams, Acia (Oshun) Carroll, Darius Smalls, AJ Murphy, Dierre Simmons, Perry Smalls, Jr. and Bruce Benjamin, Jr. 20 great grand children. In-Laws: Lena (John Lee) White, Linda Smalls, Mary Smalls, Linda Jenkins, Stanley Smalls, Clyde Smalls, Calvert (Tonya) Smalls, Ruby Smalls. A special friend, Matthew Campbell. Her best friend of many years, Mary Alice Waymer. A host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
