Capers Jerome Brown

Mr. Capers Jerome Brown, affectionately known as “Jerome,” was born on December 1, 1963, in Walterboro, South Carolina, to the late Capers Brown, Jr. and Lorrain Kinsey Brown. He peacefully departed this life on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, in Norfolk, Virginia.

Jerome was educated in the public schools of Colleton County, where he prided himself on perfect attendance and academic dedication. After graduating high school, he bravely served his country by joining the United States Army. During his service, he became a proud member of the 82nd Airborne Division and served honorably in Operation Desert Storm.

Following his military service, Jerome continued to serve his community in multiple roles—first as a correctional officer, then as a police officer. Eventually, he retired from his position as a Chemical Specialist at the Naval Shipyard.

Jerome was known by many as the life of the party. He had an infectious spirit, a love for travel, and a taste for the finer things in life. A devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys, he never missed a chance to cheer on his favorite team.

He was preceded in death by his father, Capers Brown, Jr.; a brother, Johnny Brown; and a beloved nephew, David Terell Thompson.

Jerome's legacy and loving memory will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved him. He leaves behind his two sons, Demetrius Taylor and Jerome Taylor; his devoted mother, Lorrain Kinsey Brown; six grandchildren; brothers David (Andrea) Kinsey, Joe Nathan Brown, William Allen Brown, and Larry Lamonte Brown; his cherished aunt Elaine; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
