The Obituary
Burnethel “Burnie” Gilliam, was born on January 19, 1948, in Jacksonboro, South Carolina to the late Eva Lucille Frasier and the Stepfather, Lee Frasier of Round-O, South Carolina. Her biological father the late Bobby Davis of Charleston, South Carolina.
Burnie received her formal education in the Public School of Colleton County and later attended Trident School of Nursing in Charleston County.
At a young age, Burnie accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour and joined Bethel AME Church. After marrying John, she relocated to Washington, DC, where she continued her Christian journey.
She proceeded in death by her parents; brothers, Henderson Holmes, Lawrence Holmes and Kenneth Holmes; sisters-in-law, Sara Ann Morgan and Ree Ann Baskerville and brothers-in-law, Nathan “Bubba” Gilliam, Jr. and Ricky Reed.
Burnie “Sam” leaves to cherish her memories, her loving and faithful husband, John Gilliam of Capital Heights, Maryland; daughter, Tanesha D. Holmes-Gilliam of Capital Heights, Maryland; grandson, Jaleel Winston of Washington, DC and one-great grandson, Aceson Winston of Washington, DC; siblings, Frankie Holmes of Jacksonboro, SC, Lee Rogers Frasier (Laverne) of Round-O, SC, Rose Jordan (Gary) of Summerville, SC, Carl Frasier (Patricia) of Round-O, SC, David Allen Frasier (Edith) of Adams Run, SC, Shelia Gibson (Carl) of Columbia, SC, Karen Reed of Round-O, SC, Willie Donald Frasier (Evelyn) of McClellanville, SC and Stacy Davis of Columbia, SC and one sister-in-law, Josie Jenkins (J. Everette) of Washington, DC. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, beloved and special cousins and other relatives and caring friends.
