Betty Jane Manigo was born on April 2, 1941, in the Neyles Community of Colleton County to the late Levi and Hattie Mae Manigo. She entered into eternal rest on Friday, February 6, 2026, at HCA Healthcare Colleton Hospital.
Betty was educated in the public schools of Colleton County and graduated with the Class of 1959. She furthered her education at Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, North Carolina.
At an early age, Betty accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and became a devoted member of Aimwell Presbyterian Church. She also often enjoyed fellowshipping with the sister church, Hopewell Presbyterian Church. Betty was employed by the Colleton County School District and later served faithfully as the Director of the Neyles Community Daycare Center, from which she retired. An avid traveler, she delighted in spending her summers visiting numerous states throughout her life. Though she had no biological children of her own, Betty was deeply cherished by many, especially her nieces and nephews, whom she adored and treated and cared for them all as if they were her own children. She also possessed a special talent for sewing, which she enjoyed in her leisure time.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by one brother, Randolph E. Manigo.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories four loving brothers: Thomas Manigo; Donell Manigo (Margaret) of the Neyles Community; Bruce Manigo (Cheryl) of Charleston, South Carolina; and Eric Manigo of North Charleston, South Carolina; a sister-in-law, Theodosia Manigo of the Neyles Community; one aunt, Novice Manigault of the Neyles Community; eight nieces, five nephews, ten grand-nieces, ten grand-nephews, and a host of great-grand-nieces and great-grand-nephews; her beloved fur baby, Malta; along with numerous cousins, other relatives, and dear friends.
The family extends a special thank you to the devoted caregivers whom we know only God could have provided for Betty: Winda Gillins, Rita Manigo, Erie Pinckney, Brandy Manigo, and Thomas Manigo.
