Arthur Gant Obituary

Mr. Arthur L. Gant, Sr., son of the late Zola Gant and Lucy Ladson Gant was born August 7, 1949, in Round-O, SC. He quietly departed this life on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at Colleton Medical Center.

He attended the public schools in Colleton County. He was a member of Mt. Zion AME Church in Round O, South Carolina.

He was employed with JP Stephens Fiberglass Incorporated for over 30 years. After retiring from JP Stephens, he began working with Tuckers Adult Daycare as a transportation driver until his health failed.

Playing the guitar was one of his greatest hobbies. He played the guitar and sang with the Gospel Upsetters of Walterboro, SC for many years. Arthur loved spending time with his family. They were the joy of his life.

He was united in holy matrimony to Hattie Mae Crosby on August 23, 1970. To this union, three children were born.

He was preceded in death by six siblings, Wiley Gant, Herbert Gant, Hanna Cunningham, Mary Lee Gant, Elenora Gant, and Josie Erma Idell Gant.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories his devoted and loving wife of 54 years, Hattie Mae Gant. Three sons; Anthony Gant of Walterboro, SC, Arthur (Charhonda) Gant, Jr. of Summerville, SC, and Donnell Gant of the home, Wayne Jamison, one who he loved as a son. Shandra Gant, a daughter-in-law of Columbia, SC, Six grandchildren; Adaijah Gant,  Anthony Gant, Jr., Damain Gant, Dajon Gant all of Summerville, SC, Keshawn Gant of Charlotte, NC and Miles Gant of Walterboro SC, four great grandchildren; Princeston Williams, Raelynn Ladson (The love of his life) both of Summerville SC, Aubree Gant of Vance SC, and Little Anthony (Autumn) Gant the 3rd,  of Summerville, SC, Six siblings; Annie Ruth Jenkins, Geraldine Bright, Willie (Gloria) Gant, Shirley (Eugene) Williams, Edith Campbell, and Annette Gant all of Walterboro, SC., three sisters in law; Mary Ancrum, Evelyn (Frankie) Williams and Dorothy Jamison all of Columbia, SC, Isaac (Barbara) Crosby, Sr. of Islandton, SC, three aunts, A special friend of Anthony Gant, Taquanna Stokes,  a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
