On April 17, 1977, Antonio Tobias Shider was born to the late Jeffrey Tobias Shider and the late Robin Elizabeth Shider. From an early age, Antonio displayed a vibrant personality, an infectious spirit, and a love for sports that would remain with him throughout his life. He attended Walterboro High School and graduated in 1996.
Antonio was a gifted athlete who excelled in baseball, basketball, and football. His competitive spirit, confidence, and larger-than-life personality earned him several nicknames among family and friends, including "The Franchise," "Shider," "Hitter," "Shy Guy," and his personal favorite, "Legend." He was also known for his unforgettable "Kool-Aid smile," a smile so big and genuine that it could light up any room and make everyone around him feel welcome.
Antonio had a deep love for the outdoors and especially enjoyed hunting. He also loved spending time fishing with his cousin/best friend, Woodrow Davis ("Dusty"). Their time together on the water created many cherished memories filled with laughter, stories, and friendship.
He loved spending time with family, sharing laughs, telling stories, and creating lasting memories. He enjoyed watching football and could often be found passionately discussing his favorite player, Tom Brady, whom he proudly called "the GOAT."
Antonio attended St. John A.M.E. Church from an early age. He also attended Zion A.M.E. Church with his uncle, Wayne Shider, and his aunt, Reverend Kathy Shider, who played a loving and supportive role in his life and helped guide and care for him as he grew. He remained closely connected to them throughout his life.
Antonio worked in the construction field throughout his life. He was formerly employed with Gant & Gant Construction and was currently employed with Sanders Brothers Construction at the time of his passing.
On May 30, 2026, Antonio's earthly journey came to an end. Though his presence will be deeply missed, his love, laughter, wisdom, larger-than-life personality, and that famous Kool-Aid smile will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jeffrey Tobias Shider and Robin Elizabeth Shider; his grandparents, Betty Shider, (his grandmother who also served as a mother figure, lovingly raising him and with whom he resided until her passing); Gladys Wilson, and Robert Lee Thompson; and his aunt, Shannon Myers.
Antonio leaves to cherish his precious memories: his children, Ky-nasia Shider and Deiondre Shider; his four grandsons, Kaiden Lynch, Kyrie Rhode, Kason Rhode, and Jamalan Bryant, Jr.; his sister, Sylvia Singleton; his nephew, Aiden Singleton; five uncles, Retired Sergeant First Class, Stanley Shider, Wayne Shider (Rev. Kathy), Rev. Kenneth Shider, Douglas Wilson, and Brian Thompson; three aunts, Phanorris Artis, Lena Gant and Daisy Brock; and two first cousins, Vincent Shider and Ashely Ward, who shared a close bond with him and were raised and loved like siblings; other relatives and host of friends.
