Annie Pearl Gethers Bodison, the daughter of the late Deacon Fred and Lela Gethers, was born on January 13, 1937. She received her early education at Snipe Elementary School, Round O, South Carolina and Colleton High School, Walterboro, South Carolina. She furthered her education at South Carolina State College in Orangeburg, SC, where she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Math and Science and a Masters of Education. She served for thirty plus years in the Colleton Couty school system.
She joined the Mt Sinai Baptist Church at an early age. In her later years she served as Sunday School Superintendent and President of the Missionary Society.
She was married to the late Rev Dr Dan R Bodison, Sr. She served as First Lady of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Beaufort, South Carolina for thirty-one years
She is a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. She was active in many other professional and charitable organizations.
She leaves to cherish her memories: children, Dan R Bodison, Jr, and Zenobia T. Bodison; grandson, Daniel D Bodison; brother, Larry Gethers; brothers-in- law Guss Bodison, Sr., and Samuel Bodison; sisters-in-law Vernetha Matthews (Joe), Roberta Gethers, and Helen Bodison; a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives, and dearest friends.
