Ms. Jorday Nelson Obituary

Respectfully, we honor the life of Ms. Jorday A. Nelson. Known to many as "Boo Boo" she was a  twenty nine year old resident of Jacksonboro, South Carolina.

Ms. Jorday Aristy Nelson, daughter of Mr. Joe Stanley Nelson and the late, Ortha Bell Gilliard Nelson; was born January 28, 1990 in Charleston, South Carolina.  Being educated in the public schools, Jorday developed her voice and became inspired to sing.  She began with the high school chorus; which led her to audition and win the role of singing the National Anthem.  Graduating from the Colleton County High School class of 2008, Jorday sought to further her education.  Enrolling into Orangeburg Technical College, Jorday completed her Associates degree studies becoming a Computer Technician. As an infant, she learned of Christ thru the inspiration of the Greater Calvary A.M.E. Church of Jacksonboro, South Carolina.  As she became older, she accepted Christ as her personal Savior and became a member of the very same church.  She served faithfully in many capacities, such as: steward, usher, Sunday school teacher along with any other needs she saw in the ministry.    Her love for singing continued to flourish even into the church. She loved singing spiritual hymns, as well as songs that empowered God’s people. Affectionately known as “Boo Boo” by all who knew and loved her; Jorday was nothing less than a fun-loving person. She always possessed the brightest smile that drew any and every one to her.  She had a true passion for spending time with her family and friends, by way of laughter and food; and even more so bonding with her best friend and sister “Jerry”.

Preceding her in death are: Mother, Ortha B. Nelson; grandparents, Dorthy & Ernest Gilliard; aunt Sharon Blocker; and cousins, Benny Green, Theron Green, Jackie Moultrie, Viola Bowman and Charlie Blocker, Jr.

Death is not the end, but the beginning of a new life in which God has promised and on Saturday: July 27, 2019, her new life began.  As she has departed this earthly life, for her heavenly home and to be reunited with her “Momma”: her smile and precious memories will forever be embraced by: father, Joe S. Nelson and devoted sister, Jerica Nelson, both of  the home, Jacksonboro, South Carolina: grandparents, Jonathan & Jannie Nelson: aunts, Patricia (Leander) Bryant, Olivia (Johnny) Burch, Reverend Debra (Johnnie) Green,  Margareta (Dennis) Washington, Teresa Gilliard and Sylvia (Nathan) Gillison: uncles, Theron (Darlene) Nelson, Julius (Gloria) Nelson, Sr., Ricky (Brenda) Gilliard, Sr., Charlie Blocker, Sr. and Kelvin (Sabrina) Gilliard: two loving grand aunts, Elizabeth Green and Stella Moultrie: grand uncle, Nathan White: special friend, Shaterica Moore along with a host of numerous cousins, other relatives and friends.
