A Portrait of Her Life
It is in God’s plan that we all will return to Him. At His calling, on January 14, 2019, Deaconess Vernelle Kinard Bryant peacefully returned to Him. Readily she answered. She entered into eternal rest at Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro, SC. Vernelle was born January 19, 1933, to the late Rev. Alonzo Kinard and Annie Glover Kinard. Vernelle was the ninth child out of twenty-one children. She received her education in Ashton, SC. She was a faithful member of Ashton Branch Christian Church. Both Vernelle and her late twin sister, Blondell Bradham, were known for singing in the church. She also held the position as treasurer for the District One Disciples of Christ, Missionary Department.
Vernelle was employed at Colleton Medical Center for many years. She was also a supervisor at Old Fort Meat Company and a supervisor at JP Stephens, until her health starting failing her. Once she retired, she spent countless hours cooking for her family and volunteering for her church. In 1957, she was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Isaac Quintine Bryant Sr. To this union, three boys and one daughter was born. Two children proceeded her in death, Wilda Bryant and Arnold Bryant. Vernelle was also preceded in death by sixteen of her siblings, including
her twin sister, Blondell Bradham.
She leaves to cherish her memories her children, Isaac Bryant Jr. (Barbara) of Walterboro, SC, Wayne Bryant (Naomi) of Charlotte, NC, one daughter-in-law, Jackie Bryant of Columbia, SC, and one sister whom she helped raised, Earnestine Haynes (Charles) of Philadelphia, PA; seven grandchildren, whom she loved dearly.
