Mrs. Sharon Wilson Obituary

Respectfully, we honor the life of Mrs. Sharon D. Wilson, 48, of Charleston, South Carolina.

Master Sergeant (Retired) Sharon Denise Wilson, age 48, of Charleston, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 16, 2019. Sharon was born in Colleton County on January 21, 1971, to two loving parents Maggie Ruth Middleton and US Army Private/World War II Veteran Johnnie Simmons, both of whom preceded her in death. Late in life, a surrogate father Vander Williams stepped in and survived his bonus daughter. Our beloved Sharon was educated in Colleton County Public Schools where she met her lifelong, best friend Lorrie Carter. After graduating high school, Sharon put off her dream of becoming a nurse to pursue another dream, joining the United States Air Force. She served her Country from 1991 to 2011, traveled the world, and achieved the rank of Master Sergeant. She retired from the Air Force, where Sharon earned two Bachelor of Science Degrees from Park University, graduating Magna Cum Laude. Sharon continued her work as a civil servant with the Department of Defense on Joint Base Charleston as a Formal Training Technician and worked there until God called her home. She loved cooking, she loved people, she loved cooking for people, she loved to laugh, and she loved the Washington Redskins. During her time in the service, Sharon married and reached her greatest personal achievement as mother to two amazing sons who lit up her life. She leaves behind those two sons: Thomas George Wilson II, and Terrell Edward Wilson, plus a fur baby Duchess Wilson-- all of whom are from Charleston. Everyone’s favorite chef and the baby of the family, Sharon also leaves behind nine siblings: Leroy Middleton of Hendersonville, Robert Lee Middleton (Georgia) of Summerville, Edward Middleton (Kathy) of Savannah, Johnnie Mae Roberts (the late Jimmie) of Yemassee, Gloria Jean Smalls (Bennie) also of Yemassee, Loretta Ann Middleton (David) of Ritter, Jimmy Lee Middleton (Mary) of Walterboro, Charles Middleton (Phyllis) of Islandton, and her role model big sister Rebecca Middleton of Charleston. Sharon is survived by one special aunt Marie Lopez of New York, New York and one special uncle Richard Middleton of Merritt Island, Florida. Never-to-be-forgotten, Sharon leaves a host of nieces, nephews, and countless close friends whom she loved dearly and treated as family.
