Mrs. Reader Bell Aiken Linen, daughter of the late, Henry Simon and Irene Youngblood Aiken, was born June 5, 1928 in Islandton, South Carolina. At an early age, the family relocated to New York; while there she received her formal education. Upon receiving her high school diploma, she enrolled into and completed her studies with the New York Community Nursing College. She was a career nurse and missionary faithfully until her retirement. United in Holy Matrimony to the late, Staff Sgt. Timothy Linnen, Sr. This union would also be blessed with three
wonderful children. Making Summerville, South Carolina her new home after retirement, Mother Reader loved the Lord. She loved her church family (Central Baptist & Seacoast Church); her biological family, and even her community.
On August 7, 2019 while in the comfort of her home, at the age of 91, Mother Linen received her crown of glory. Though she has gone home, her words, “I will not be moved, I will wait on God!” shall forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She will also be known for being the lady that, “DID IT HER WAY.” Left to celebrate the legacy of her life are: Children; Timothy Linnen, Jr. of Walterboro, SC, Sarah Linnen of Upper Marlboro, MD, and Mary Osias of Greenville, SC: ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren, all of Brooklyn, NY; one great great-grandchild of South Carolina: one loving sister, Charlotte Ott of Brooklyn, NY; along with a host of numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and friends.
