Mrs. Mary Blevins Obituary

We honor the legacy of life of Mrs. Mary Marie Blevins (95) a matriarch of the Green Pond Community. The daughter of the late Lillie Ladson Wilson & Elliot Wilson, she was born November 8, 1923, in Colleton County. Mary began her education in the public schools of Colleton County as a youth. As time brought changes, she then relocated to Cleveland, Ohio; furthering her education to become a Certified Nursing Assistant. Spending the majority of her adulthood in Cleveland, Ohio, Mary was joined in Holy matrimony to the late Willie Blevins, and this union would be blessed with one son, John. Also, during her time there, she became a foster mother to two wonderful young ladies, Phyllis & Cynthia; and would remain a part of their lives for over sixteen years.

Affectionately known as, “Marie or Pinky”, by all of her family; she decided that she wanted to return back South. Thirty years ago, Mary reconnected with her family and friends in the Green Pond, Community. She also re gave her life back to God and became an active and faithful member of the Mount Olive AME Church, and served as the Mother of the Church. On Sunday: October 27, 2019, Mary gained her heavenly reward, and entered her eternal home in glory. Preceding her in death along with her parents and husband, is one sister, Lillie Mae Adams.

Those left to embrace her legacy are: one son, John Blevins, Cleveland, OH: grandson reared in the home, Tory Blevins of Cleveland, OH: sisters, Edith Rogers of Concord, NC; Clara Reed of Green Pond, SC; Ruby Myers of Columbia, SC; Leola Curry of Saint Matthews, SC and Sally Wilson of Summerville, SC: one brother, Harold (Rose) Mikel of Green Pond, SC: special cousins, Elizabeth (Billy) Mitchell, James Brisbon and Leon Brown: family friend Elizabeth Parker of Ohio, along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
