Edith Goodwine

Edith Goodwine was born on April 2, 1957, to the late John and Onnie Brock. On Monday
evening, March 11, 2024, God called Edith home.
Edith graduated from Walterboro High School in 1975 and furthered her education at Vorhees
College in Demark, SC.
On September 12, 1985, Edith married her soulmate, Murrel Goodwine. With this union, no
biological children were born, but Edith had a hand in rearing most of her nieces and nephews.
Affectionately known as “Lane” to most, she was a well-known, boisterous voice in the
community and loved by all. Lane worked numerous jobs throughout her life but in her final
years, found enjoyment serving as a caregiver.
Lane is preceded in death by her loving parents, John and Onnie Brock, brother Jimmy Brock,
nephew Troy Johnson, mother and father-in-law Henrietta and Lee Goodwine, two sisters-in-law
Odelphia Morris and Ruth Anne Goodwine.
Lane will forever be cherished and missed by her husband, Murrel Goodwine. Lane leaves
behind her siblings: Lavern Middleton (John), Charles Brock (Syvilla), Betty Edwards (Ernest),
Danny Brock (Wanda), Sidney Brock (Stephanie) and three brothers-in-law, Chester Goodwine
(Betty), Jerome Goodwine, James Morris and one sister-in-law, Carolyn Brock.
Undoubtably, Lane will be missed but not forgotten by her fifty nieces and nephews, all of whom
have been left with countless, heartfelt memories of their Aunt Lane.
